Further product information

The devices of the ES-2x series are electronic safety switching devices for pressure monitoring with comprehensive self-diagnostic functions and fail-safe design. The devices are used as pressure regulators, for minimum or maximum pressure limitation on compressors in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, on heat pumps, steam boiler systems and on hydraulic systems.

H2 ready - ES-2x suitable for hydrogen

The ES-2x series electronic safety switching devices are particularly suitable for hydrogen applications. All parts in contact with the media, the pressure diaphragm, and the pressure connection are precision-machined from stainless steel 1.4404 and manufactured in one piece without oil filling or welds. Potential weak points for H2 molecules, such as inclusions and leaks, are eliminated from the outset.

With the exception of the integrated switching relays, there are no mechanically moving components, ensuring high vibration resistance and a long service life.

The switching limits can be conveniently set and precisely monitored. Comprehensive self-diagnostic and logging functions ensure reliable monitoring and rapid shutdown of the hazard source, as well as high traceability of any events that occur.

All devices delivered as pressure monitors, pressure limiters, or safety pressure limiters (also combined) are EU type-examined safety switching devices for pressure limitation.

System design

The ES-2... devices are constructed from a compact, anodized aluminum housing and, depending on the device variant, are designed as pressure regulators, pressure limiters, pressure monitors, or safety pressure limiters of a special design. Combinations, such as series-connected pressure limiters and safety pressure limiters according to EN 378, are also implemented in a single housing.

The devices are generally delivered with preset limits and parameters. Setting a password essentially "seals" the device. Once enabled (password entry), authorized personnel can change the device settings and perform manual tests on the device or via the app.

Monolithic stainless steel pressure measuring cells are used for monitoring relative pressures. Since there are no sealing rings or welds, the devices of the ES-2... series offer a high level of robustness and media compatibility, even with aggressive media. Regardless of the relative or differential pressure measurement, the faultless function of the pressure measurement is checked and documented by the device itself during operation.

The devices have two independent switching outputs, which in the ES-21 and ES-22 versions are combined to form a self-monitoring switching output. The installed relays are continuously monitored by an additional circuit, reliably preventing opening failure. In addition, the switching function is independently checked by the device both when the power supply is applied to the device and at regular intervals during operation. In the event of a fault, the device always switches to the safe state.

Extension of measuring channels

Depending on the application, it may be necessary to use multiple pressure monitors for multiple pressure circuits. In this case, an ES device can be equipped with a channel extension. For this purpose, specially developed SIL 2-capable pressure transmitters (ZT-S…) are connected to the ES device via a secure communication interface. The ES device is capable of monitoring multiple pressure circuits and issues a collective alarm when one of the set limit values ​​is reached. Setting, logging, and testing work the same as with a single-channel device.

Switching channel expansion

In addition to additional measuring channels, an expansion unit (ESE) adds additional switching contacts. This enables the creation of a distributed safety chain, e.g., with multiple pressure transmitters and switching outputs.
